The Mars Volta had (has) some of the best lyrics I’ve ever heard, and their music wasn’t bad either. I was listening to these guys in my 20s to 30s, during my “indie bands phase”, which isn’t really a phase now, more of a rotation. I just gravitate towards the odd and off-the-beaten-track. And when I first heard Mars Volta, they sounded refreshingly different.
The curse that flew right by you
Page of concrete
Stained walks crutch in hobbled sway
Auto da fe [sic]
A capulary [sic] hint of red
Only this manupod
Crescent in shape has escaped –from Televators
